Dundrum Shopping Centre

At the time of its construction Dundrum was the largest shopping centre in Europe. Stretching over half a Kilometre and built into a sloping hillside, it’s topography presented many unique wayfinding challenges. As ‘Ground Level’ varied by 7 car parking levels from one end of the development to the other, the usual conventions of vertical orientation were meaningless. A new language for level numbering had to be devised, one that made no reference to the outside environment.

I devised the overall wayfinding strategy, led the design team and oversaw manufacturing and installation.
